Cleaning headstones Some very good technical advice is available on the following sites: Connecticut Graves Network http://ctgravestones.com/Conservation/cleaning.htm
included are examples of where things went wrong including one American cemetery was cleaned down completely with water power washers taking off all the patina off all the headstones [visit the site just to see that!] and leaving the cemetery without any historic character.
The other site is the The Association for Gravestone Studies under its Information and FAQ page, select the article on headstone cleaning. This site is more technical and mentions all the different chemicals to use or to avoid. Both sites advocate the best method is clean water and soft brushes.

ePodunk  UK A website with lists of towns and communities. Originally using USA and Canadian data the organisation has spread to Europe and they are keen to build a data base of British cemeteries. A location search gives detail of the town and lists features such as cemeteries. It will either list your cemetery and invite you as a subscriber to fill in the historic details, special features etc or ask as an alternative for you to list a cemetery not previously featured. Then a Google map appears and by using your mouse you direct a noticeboard pin to the exact spot and in the panel map, then enter details about the cemetery and click to confirm; if you register as a user [free] you can add a photograph of your cemetery. [Another option, in some cases, is that cemeteries are linked to the noticeboard of an ancestors' website] http://uk.epodunk.com/
