Friends of Bethseda Cemetery, Bwichgwyn

NEWSLETTER NO 17 APRIL 20006
Jason Lewis finding his great-grandparents grave in a neglected cemetery of a demolished Welsh Weslyan Chapel originally organised volunteers for a tidy up and to make the graves accessible. The result was so successful that they wished to take matters further but could not interest the Church owners or the Community Council in the still available grave spaces and the maintenance. So the volunteers formed a Friends group and looked into the possibility of forming a Trust. After considerable research and discussion the Methodist Circuit has agreed to a transfer of ownership and the Friends are looking forward to restoring the cemetery both to its proper function for burials and in a well-cared for environment.
Bwlchgwyn claiming to be the highest village from Wales is six miles west of Wrexham.
